Hexis Goes Live

Richard Atkin, Worksop Guardian, Fri 13th April '07

Rock musicians of the future are having the chance to develop their skills and play their music as part of the increasing popular Hexis Live project. Local bands have been signing up like wild fire for the chance to perform at the gigs which are taking place fortnightly at Worksop’s Circle Arts Centre. “This project is becoming massive and we’re signing up band for as long away as July” explained Jayson Bartlett one of the directors of Hexis, the company behind the event.

“The quality is of a professional standard and it’s a wonderful opportunity for young people to be able to learn skills from experienced musicians”. Bands are playing a variety of styles of rock music ranging from indie and acoustic to heavier sounds like metal, punk and thrash.

Among the young people involved there’s a variety of ages taking part as well with rockers as young as 13 all the way up to 25 playing. “We’re getting a large audience which is fantastic for those involved” says Jayson “it’s hard to think of anywhere else that offers the chance for new and upcoming bands to play in front of 270 people, some of whom have come as far as field as Lincoln to listen”.

Hexis have set up their own record label for the bands of the future to sign up to. They have also organised several tours abroad for the next 12 months going to places such as New York and Poland. “For those who have aspirations in the arts and music this is a great way to gain experience for a future career” says Jayson. “All the bands are really supportive of each other as well, which I can’t praise them enough for” he added.
